Two Weeks Old Today

The Disney pups are 2 weeks old today! Seems like just yesterday,  yet it seems like longer (sleep deprivation?).  Late night is a good time for a nap,  a snuggle or a bath.

The Eyes Have It!

The C4 x Sweet Tea pups are 12 days old today and we're starting to see the very inner corners of the eyes opening up on some of the pups.  Lightning McQueen, Minnie and Tinkerbell are all on their way to vision!  Not enough to really show on a photo yet, but maybe by tomorrow!

While the new guys have been taking up all the press, we've been starting to get our spots, so hey check us out! !

Patience is a Virtue

After a nearly 5 hour break,  Pellagrino (yellow) and Propel (black) have joined the gang.  So At 1 AM, we're now up to SIX! This has been a very difficult whelping for me.   I've never had a litter with this much time between pups.   They're doing great.   Eva's doing great.    *I'm* a nervous wreck.   Hard to keep calm and not panic.

Eva's Eight Ball

Well as you may have guessed, after a looooooooong delivery, we ended up at Lake Alfred Animal Hospital with the wonderful Dr. Mary and a C Section to deliver Eva's last two pups.  Sadly we lost one, but the other (Evian) is thriving and doing well.

This is an incredibly consistent litter with all pups at about 11 oz.  We did get a big surprise.  I'd thought that Eva was BB as well as UU and so that we'd get all black spotted pups.  Silly me!  She'd been tested for the *lemon* gene (which she does not carry) but not for liver!  She is Bb and we have four liver ones in the bunch!

We've decide to go with a "water" theme so we're pleased to introduce:

Big Ole Pile O'Puppies

All of the pups are growing nicely.  Buzz is consistently the biggest with the two other boys, Woody and Lightning McQueen taking turns in the bottom slot.  The girls are all pretty consistent.

Name That Puppy!

So after talking with some Disney Friends today, we realized that Sweet Tea's pups were born on the 55th anniversary of Disneyland, so what better than Disney names (think of all the photo prop possibilities, Kathy!)  So without further ado, I give you the first mug shot of the litter.  I'll try to do these weekly on Sunday nights to you can see the progress.

Purple/liver boy - Lightning McQueen (Cars)
Light blue/liver boy - Buzz Lightyear (Toy Story)
Orange/liver girl - Merida (Brave)
Green/black girl - Jasmine (Aladdin)
Pink/liver girl - Tinkerbell (Peter Pan)
Brown/liver boy - Woody (Toy Story) **still not sure this boy may be black spotted
Dark Blue - Aurora (Sleeping Beauty)
Lilac - Minnie (Mouse)

We Demand a Recount!

No, we still have 8 puppies but yesterday, under the bright lights of the bathroom, we discovered that one of the "black" boys is actually liver!  So this litter is a 5/3 split both on girls/boys and livers/blacks.  Trust Sweet Tea and C4 to be consistent!  More photos to follow later today!

Eva - Day 57

Eva is getting larger and larger by the day.  Anticipating these pups on Wednesday or Thursday.  Will do an X Ray on Tuesday or Wednesday to try for a headcount.

Day 3... We're growing!

Everyone is doing well,  eating heartily and thriving.   Our smallest pup (purple) who stayed out at 7.1 oz was up to 8.3 oz in the first day!  The pups have a lovely leopard bed but as you can see,  the like hanging out on the newspaper under the"pig rail."

An Early Album

Final count... Five girls, three boys.  Although these pups are some of the smallest that I've ever had, all are gaining wait. All of them are doing great.  Thrifty, energetic pups who are gaining weight.  Here's a few more photos to share.

Sweet Tea had her first guests today and received them graciously.  She'd grumbled at both Kathy and I earlier so I was very cautious about letting company come in, but when she saw Lindsey, she jumped up out of the whelping box and ran over to visit.
